Any other information.
Model of a 31ft Arklow yawl, a carvel built, open boat with straight stem and transom stern. Although the model is not rigged, the yawl would have been ketch-rigged, with main and mizzen standing lugs. Typically, the yawls ranged from 25-35 feet in length, and were used for a variety of purposes – chiefly drift-netting for mackerel and herring fishing, but also oyster dredging and were used to some degree for coastal trade. This particular model represents the first boat to have been built by John Tyrrell at his newly-opened yard in Arklow in 1864.
